STEP 1: Go to your Blogger account and click on Template as shown below:

STEP 2: Click on Customize as shown below:

STEP 3: Now click on Layout as shown below:

As you can see in the image, you can choose from the Body layout, whether you want only a Left Sidebar, or Sidebar panels both on left and right, having one or two columns in the side bar, etc…
You can also customize the Footer Layout. We can also resize various widths i.e. width of the sidebar panels, width of the blog itself etc… We will see that in the next step.

STEP 4: Click on Adjust widths as shown below:

As you can see, you can adjust the width of Entire Blog, Left Sidebar and Right Sidebar as shown above.

Update 1: As requested by our readers, we tried to find out if the same is possible in Notable theme in blogger. Here's what we get after clicking on customize in case of Notable theme:

As we can see there is no direct option for us to add a left side bar directly. We can change the Content and Sidebar width. Moreover, we can customize the right sidebar of the Notable theme. The only possible way to add a left side bar in Notable theme may be to tweak the actual theme (by modifying the HTML/CSS of the theme) in some way. Our team will try to give it a shot but that won't be easy for sure. We will update the post in case we succeed in the same.

You may be here because you are a hard working Blogger and wish to monetize your blog by using Google AdSense. Well! You are at the right place. Let me directly tell you about my journey till I got my AdSense account approved.

I started with my blog in the year 2012, focusing mainly on Programming and Technology. I started with 3 articles on the first day, 2 articles on the Second day and so on… Sometimes I used to get busy in some other activities and could not write even one article. So this continued and within two-three months, I wrote about 50 articles. After that I thought that I have done enough of Hard Work (which was actually very lessJ), and now I should get handsome amount of Dollars for my effort.  Since I was on the top of the world after writing 50 articles, I applied for my Google AdSense account.

I was hoping that today I applied for my AdSense account, it will be approved by tomorrow, and by day after tomorrow I will be a Millionaire (or may be Billionaire :P) . Yeah! That’s what happens when you are super excited and the same happened in my case. Three – Four days passed, and finally I got a mail form the Google AdSense team stating that your Google AdSense Account has been disapproved. Trust me, this was way more painful than break up with my girlfriend. I asked myself – What went wrong? Then I started searching for relevant resources, referred a lot of AdSense Help Pages and what not!

Let me tell you that I was damn restless those days. But nothing happens all of a sudden. One has to be hard working and consistent to achieve something and the same applies to Blogging. There is no doubt that there is immense competition in Blogging. Finally, I started getting the taste of how all this actually works. I wish to share some important points and the steps I took which led to my AdSense

Account approval (Cheers!J).

1) I stopped thinking about making money (Only for few months  :P) , and focused more on generating quality content from my side. Web Traffic will come to your website only when you have something to offer and it’s genuine and interesting.

2) First Myth: There is a myth that each of your articles should be 400-500 words in length. Let me tell you that’s not true. I must say that it’s a good practice but not mandatory. If you are able to cover every aspect of your article and explain it in a well-mannered way that the visitor can understand, that’s all you need to do. As a matter of fact, I hardly wrote any post that crossed 400 words. But if it’s necessary, never hesitate to elaborate your article. The key point is that the Visitor should get what he was looking for.

3) Second Myth: There is another myth which says that to get your AdSense account approved, you must have more than 300-400 articles on your Blog or Website. That’s not necessary. I got my AdSense account approved even though I had less than 100 articles. The take away is that focus more on the quality of the content you create. It’s always better to have 10 useful quality articles then to have 100 articles that nobody cares to look at. The posts you write should be informative and should fully convey the idea of what the article is all about.

4) So far so good! Is writing quality content enough? No! What if I write quality content everyday but nobody comes to see it? That is where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Content Marketing come into place. Actually these two topics deserve separate well explained posts separately, but I will try to say in short that –

a) Know more about SEO so that you follow certain guidelines that are used by Search Engines like Google, Bing to rank the websites. Higher Rank means More Web Traffic.Of course you can hire an expert if you want. But I would suggest learn and do it on your own just as I did.It will be helpful in the long run.

b) Another way to get Web Traffic is by Content Marketing. There are various ways to do that. You can even hire experts for this purpose. I know you want to do it on your own and here is what you should do:

·         Make a Page of your blog/Website on Facebook. Invite your friends to like the Page, connect with people and share your posts on your page. If people find your posts interesting, they will surely visit your website.

·         Make a Google Plus community by the name of your blog or any other relevant name, share your posts on Google Plus. Connect with like-minded people around the world.

·         Make a Twitter account by the name of your blog and let the world know about your latest article by tweeting. If you already have your twitter account, you can tweet using that too. But I feel it is good to build a brand of your blog.

·         You can also become Guest Blogger or writer at various blogs (Including Mine J) , Visitors may find your articles interesting on that Blog and may visit your Blog/Website for more content.

5) Be patient and consistent till you feel that you have got sufficient number of posts and good daily traffic. There is no way in which one can directly quantify various parameters to get your AdSense account approved. But following the above mentioned steps will certainly improve your chances.

6) Please note that for certain countries like India, etc… Google will not approve your AdSense account until it’s live for a certain period (say at least six months) and make sure you visit and update your blog frequently.

7) Most importantly, never get disheartened. Be consistent and continue your hard work and you will be able to get your AdSense account approved. The biggest problem is that many Bloggers who start off very well, leave blogging in between. Avoid that!

Finally, I must tell you that it took me more than Six months to get my Google AdSense account approved. This time varies from Blogger to Blogger, depends on the region or country of the Blogger and many other factors. I have friends who got their AdSense account approved in less than 3 months and for some it took more than a year.

HOW TO GET HIGHER RANKING IN GOOGLE

ON GOOGLE'S FIRST PAGE WITHIN 3 DAYS

Sounds crazy!!! Right?

But that is really possible and i have achieved it. You don't believe me?OK!! Let me explain this to you.

Everyone knows that you type something to search and then the pages having top page ranks are shown as result.For example we search for code for threaded binary tree.Then the sites having codes of threaded binary tree and having high page rank will be shown on the first page.Suppose you also have a website/blog which has code for threaded binary tree,then why isn't your blog/website on the first page?The reason is that these top websites/blog contain ample of text and related data regarding codes.Not to scare you but a blog with high rank may have around 500+ posts minimum.And you have only 20+ posts,then how  you can expect to be on first page?

So would you fight people having swords with a needle? You may not be able to mark your presence.Are you thinking of writing 500+ posts and then expecting a good rank? Well till you write 500 others may write at least 300 or more.The point is they will be still ahead.And just having a large number of posts doesn't guarantee a good rank.It also depends on the quality of content.If you are trying to increase the number of posts blindly and hurriedly,the quality of content is bound to go down.Enough!!! It seems as if it is impossible.No wait!!! It is possible and here is the most awaited secret to be on the first page of Google.

The procedure i am telling here may cause constipation to some of the readers but please at least think over it once.You have less content,you are new.So you can't beat top rank giants for now but later you may. What i am explaining is that you can't reach to the top if your bog has only contents that are searched heavily as there  are others better than you.Don't get disappointed.Keep posting all the articles of your interest.Since we cannot drive traffic directly on our posts for highly searched keywords,we will generate it in an indirect manner.Think of a keyword that is searched less frequently and less people pay attention to writing on it.You all most got it! Now you have to write superbly on this keyword and related topics.By doing this you can certainly get a high rank as there are less number of people in competition.Trust me you can really come on to Google's first page for at least that keyword search in 3 days even if you have only 20+ posts.

Now you have a good rank(at least for less frequently searched keyword) and obviously there will be some traffic.Your next job is to make the visitor spend more time on your blog/website.So have links on your posts pointing to other posts(as i have).Also if the visitor is impressed by your writing and work,he may explore the blog/website and may see the code for threaded binary tree(suppose he/she likes coding).This is just an example.He may find lots of useful stuff which he wouldn't  have seen just because you rank lower for that particular keyword search.God bless you and he may recommend your blog/website to his/her friends. This will increase your traffic slowly but steadily and one day you will be able to lock horns with the high rank pages for heavily searched keywords also.

Do you want the keywords that can help you reach the Google's first page within no time? Well!! My suggestion is that think yourself as you are smart enough and anybody will hardly help you on this as everyone wants to sit on the top.I do have a few keywords of this kind in my mind but i would give them to you only after a brief discussion with you.It's just to ensure that the keyword doesn't go for a waste and you do the right job for that keyword to get on Google's first page.

2. Best way is to take out your camera and take the required pictures and videos for your blog by yourself.
3. Make sure that visitor spends as much time as possible on your site.How to do that? Best way is to link the pages in your blog.Don't make unnecessary links in order to increase quantity of links as it will annoy the visitor.Make links when it is required and is relevant.This is a very important step as the search engines will crawl more on your site following the links.
4. Social interaction: Try mentioning a link to your site on various social website like Facebook,Twitter,Google +.Make friends and family understand about your blog and how it is helpful to them because this can increase your traffic.
